Class 2 – Visit to Fountains Abbey
22 Apr 2024
We're looking forward to visiting Fountains Abbey on Tuesday 30
th April. The visit will support learning in history about the life of the monks at Fountains Abbey and why they chose to settle in the Skell Valley. We hope to find information that will help us to answer the question: ‘What was life like for the monks at Fountains Abbey during the reign of Henry VIII’.
Mrs Micklefield, Mrs Draper and Mrs Hemingway will accompany the children.
Please can the children wear their school uniform, so that they can be easily identified, as well as representing the school’s links with Fountain’s Abbey. They can wear trainers, wellingtons or shoes suitable for walking outdoors and will need waterproof coats/sunhats depending on the weather.
The children will require a packed lunch and drink. Please indicate on the consent form if you would like a packed lunch to be provided by Mrs Ward at school, by Wednesday 24th April.
Mr Atkinson will be providing transport. We will be leaving school at 9.30am and will return by 3.15pm.
The Friends of Fountains have kindly subsidised transport costs. We request a contribution of £5.00 towards the cost of the visit, which can by paid via parentpay. Thank you for your continued support as the costing of the visit is based on all members of the class being included.
Please complete and return the consent form which the children have brought home in their Homework Books.
Many Thanks
Mrs Micklefield
