Chinese dragons and mental health
07 Feb 2024
It has been a very busy end to the half term in Class 2! As well as finishing our writing journey based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we have had our whole school art week, safer internet day and children's mental health week!
On Tuesday, we took part in a live lesson to find out about keeping safe on line and the impact of AI. We followed this by creating our own internet safety posters.
During art week we have used Chinese New Year as a stimulus for our work. We began by investigating this celebration and in particlar the dragon in Chinese culture. We worked in small groups to design our dragons, exploring colour in our design.
Using different materials, we cut and joined the parts together using different stitches and glue for the embelishments.
This years childrens mental health week had the theme 'My voice matters'. In collective worship, we thought about children around the world who have used their voice to make a change in the world and thought about the things that matter to us. Here are some of our important things...
We completed different activities during the week where we thought about our own mental health and how we can use our voices to support others and ask for help when needed.
We also enjoyed modelling volcanic eruptions. We poured vinegar onto bicarbonate of soda, which reacted together and spurlted out of the crust at the top of our volcano models.
Have a lovely half term holiday Class 2, See you all again on the 19th!
