Forest School and Fitness
23 Nov 2023
This week in Class 2 we have been continuing our writing about Nikola Tesla. We have been using the book 'A life electric' to look at the different stages in his life and learn about the type of person he was.
We used lots of electrical themed words to describe him and his achievements which led to world recognition.
Next week we will begin our independent writing where we will be carrying out research about another inventor and writing a biography about them using the shapes that we have followed through our sentence stacking lessons.
We have been enjoying our forest school afternoons over the last few weeks. We have been busy making a den including a milk shed and feeding station, stick crafts where we could follow our own ideas to make objects like bow and arrows, swords and also using hammers to construct items.
In PE this half term we are focusing on fitness. We began by completing a circuit of 8 activities and recording our score for how many of each different activity we could complete. We will revisit this at the end of the half term to see if our fitness has improved. In our second lesson we looked at interval training. We completed different activities which all involved rest periods as well as periods where we were active - these included step ups, sprints and ladders. Lesson 3 was continuous training. In this lesson we worked on our stamina and had to pace ourselves to make sure we had enough energy to keep going for longer periods of time. We also did an activity which involved working together as a team to run together. We had to communicate with each other so that we didn't leave anyone behind or get too far ahead of the rest of our group.
Next week:
Wednesday 9am - Worship and coffee morning
Have a lovely weekend, see you next week!
