Class Three- Science states of matter and investigations
17 Mar 2023
This week in class 3 we have been spending extra time on our science work.
We began a new unit, States of Matter and our big question is How does water exist in all three states of matter? We began by finding out what the 3 stars of matter are, looking at their properties and how the particles are arranged with each one.
We then sorted everyday objects and materials into solids, liquids and gases.
On Thursday we looked closely at gases and found out that fizzy drinks are fizzy due to a gas called carbon dioxide. We conducted a fair and comparative investigation to find out which drink would be the fizziest out of lemonade, cola, Fanta and sparkling water.
On Friday we were looking at how objects can change states of matter and had a very enjoyable time looking at the temperature which chocolate turns from a solid into a liquid.
We wrote up our investigation and studied the results to draw a conclusion.
Next week we have lots more science planned too.
Have a lovely weekend.
