Class 3 - Synagogue Trip and World Book Day
02 Mar 2023
On Tuesday we went to Bradford to visit a synagogue to link in with our work on Judaism. It was very interesting to hear all about the Jewish faith and to discover more about our topic. The children asked lots of excellent questions and learned lots of facts to help them with their understanding of Judaism.
We also had some time during the day to visit the
Wonderlab at the Science and Media Museum. Our time in the Wonderlab was a great chance to experiment with science. We investigated how light and sound work through an amazing range of fun, interactive exhibits.
We would like to say a big thankyou to all the children as their behaviour on the trip was wonderful, they all made the school proud during both experiences.
Next week we will be having further experience opportunities with the year 4’s taking place in a hockey festival, year 3’s hosting the Grewelthorpe year 3’s in a multi sports and teambuilding morning.
Furthermore next Wednesday we are looking forward to taking part in a archery and fencing experience delivered by the North Yorkshire Well School Partnership.
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day we enjoyed dressing up in our costumes. We had a fun filled morning full of book related activities. The day began with a Collective Worship where we thought about first memories of books, we thought about where we like to read and then discussed how we choose new books.
We then found our Reading Buddies and spent some time reading together. The Reading Mentors asked us to design a certificate for our new Reader of the Week Award. We also designed bookmarks, did word searches and a reading code breaker challenge.
After break Class 3 and 4 joined together and took part in the BBC’s live lesson exploring lots of different genres of stories. We then did our book swap and finished off any activities we had already started.
Have a great weekend
