Class 3- Science; Animals including humans
23 Feb 2023
Welcome back after half term.
We have started lots of new units of work this week. In French we are looking at fruits. Our English focus is Kenning poems and we look forward to sharing these with you next week. In maths we are all starting another unit looking at multiplication and division. During our computing sessions this half term we are looking at email.
Our block subject this half term is Science and we have 2 units to cover. The first is Animals including humans. We began our work by answering the big question 'what do animals and humans need to grow, develop and move?' using our existing knowledge. We then sorted foods into the main food groups.
«»
Next we found out what the recommended daily amount for each of these groups was.
«»
We then explored the nutrients that we get from our food. We found out there were 7 nutrients and that each of them gives us something important.
«»
In Thursday's lesson we looked at the different nutrients in more detail. We made predicitions about which food we thought would have the most saturated fats and then found out how much each one actually had and put them in the correct order. We then wrote a conclusion about our findings.
Just a reminder that due to the school trip on Tuesday the spelling test will be on Monday this week. On Tuesday the children are going to the synagogue and the media museum in Bradford.
World Book day is on Thursday and the children are invited to come dressed as a book character.
Have a lovely weekend!
