Class 3- Forest Schools
20 Jan 2023
This week we are sharing our Forest School work with you. We have been unlucky with the weather rain week 1 then wind week 2. But at least there was no snow to add to the cold this week.
Last week we learnt how to make an elder snake and a Nordic friendship bracelet. We made hot chocolate and had a den building competition.
This week we have been focusing on Chinese New Year. We started our session as usual by setting up the fire circle and going over the rules.

We talked about Chinese New Year and found out this is going to be the year of the rabbit. We discussed how the New Year is celebrated and the traditions they have.
We then went over how to make an elder snake and a Chinese New Year of the Rabbit flag.
We whittled sticks in order to make chop sticks.
We also explored the rope swing, mud kitchen and den building.
We finished our session by using our handmade chopsticks to eat some tasty noodles.
The children said;
"In Forest Schools I have learnt how to make a bird feeder out of a pine cone. I enjoyed the marshmallows at the end." Olivia
"I really like to be outside and to be with my friends" Will
"The mud kitchen has been the most fun so far but the games aren't far behind." Eddie
"I really like spending time with my friends." Matilda
