Class Three- Place Value
13 Oct 2022
This week we have been continuing our work looking at place value, for Year 4 this was their final lesson on this unit, year 3 have a few more left.
During the unit Year 3 have looked at numbers to 100 and then numbers to 1000 and Year 4 have looked at numbers to 1000 and then numbers to 10,000.
We partitioned numbers in different ways, using part whole models, writing sums and using place value grids.
We then explored flexibly partitioning numbers.
We have looked at finding 1, 10, 100 more or less than numbers.
Year 4 finished the unit with an end of unit check which the children did really well on. They should be proud of their hard work. After half term Year 3 will finish this unit and then they are moving onto Addition and Subtraction, Year 4 are moving onto Unit 2 of Place Value.
As well as working really hard in Maths we have also done rugby in PE. It was great to see all the children really getting stuck in and enjoying themselves, even those who don't describe themselves as sporty had a great lesson!
On Monday we borrowed a topic box from Grewelthorpe which was filled with lots of interesting artefacts for us to explore.
Next week we are having our Enrichment Week. We are looking at Black History Month through Design and technology. We look forward to sharing our work with you.
Have a good weekend.
