Class 3- Week Two
14 Sep 2022
On Wednesday we had a Pupil Voice Day, where the children spent the day in the colour teams. There were lots of different things happening across the day; designing a team mascot, planning how we could use our colour teams for more things in school and doing a mile run.
Also as part of this day the children were able to volunteer to be on the Charity Committee, School Sports Crew, or be a reading Mentor. During the day these new groups, plus the new School Council and Collective Worship Committee met and began to plan things for the coming year. Here are our new committees.

On Thursday and Friday we were back in Class. In Maths we are looking at place value. The Year Threes are beginning by looking at 3 digit numbers and the Year Fours are looking at 4 digit numbers.
In English we have begun a unit looking at writing instructions linking to the book 'How to wash a woolly mammoth.' Our work began by comparing different example texts and pulling out the key features needed to write a good set of instructions. We then focused on imperative verbs and the children were really good at spotting these in instructions and they really enjoyed puting them into action during our bossy teacher activity. We are carrying on our instruction work next week.
We have continued our theme work this week. After creating a timeline last week the Year 4s added more detail to their work and then the whole class have created a timeline of just the Stone Age; looking at where the Neolithic, Mesolithic and Palaeolithic eras happened. In pairs they then chose one of the eras to research. Once they had found lots of facts they presented their work to the class. Next week we have our Stone Age Workshop, on Friday 23rd, please see the note on the school website if you haven’t already.
Have a lovely weekend.
