Class Three- Week One
08 Sep 2022
We have had a great first week back in Class Three. We are both really impressed with how smart the children have been. They have settled really well into their new classroom and routines.
In Class Three we encourage the children to take on roles of responsibility both in our classroom and the wider school. This week we asked the children if any of them would like to volunteer for any roles in our classroom, these included things such as dojo monitor, putting up the daily visual timetable and looking after the ICT equipment. I am very pleased to say we had more volunteers than we needed, but we were able to give a job to everyone who wanted one.
In our wider school we offer lots of opportunities for the children to get involved this week lots of children volunteered to be on the School Council, the rest of the class voted for their representatives and I am pleased to announce that the Class Three School Council representatives this year are; George Simpson, Adria Wu, Olivia Jeffery and Eddie Mence. Next week we are having a Pupil Voice day and the children will get the opportunity to join the School Sports Crew, be a Reading Mentor or a part of the Charity Committee.
On Tuesday we started our week with some team building games, the children worked really well together to overcome challenges and solve problems.
In order to help the children get to know each other they joined in with a class scavenger hunt, the children had a bingo type board and each square had a characteristic in it, e.g. is good at maths or has 2 brothers. They then had to find one of their peers to fill each square.
We then set targets in English and Maths, the children thought carefully about something in these subjects that they would like to get better at.
The children produced some super maths work on Thursday, writing brilliant recounts of some of the very exciting things they had done over the summer holidays and demonstrating a great number sense of 2 and 3 digit numbers.
On Friday we began our theme work, this term we are looking at the Stone Age to the Iron Age and answering the big question ‘How did life develop in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We started this work by creating a timeline so we could understand where this time period fits into history.
Please can we ask for your support in helping the children remember to bring their reading book home and back to school each day.
If you have any questions please come and ask.
Have a great weekend.
