Standing with Ukraine Day
Wednesday saw our whole school community come together to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The Charity committee did an outstanding job of getting prepared for the day and helping out throughout the day to ensure it was our most successful charity event yet!
It was fantastic to see everyone in their blue and yellow clothing. Everyone had tried hard to find something to match the colours of the Ukrainian flag. (The Leeds football kit also helped!) In our class we made some artwork to send a message of hope and love to Ukraine. We are going to post these on our Facebook page so hopefully they will reach those people in need.
The whole school enjoyed having an extended playtime together whilst the cake stall took place. As ever a huge thank you to everyone who generously gave up their time to bake and send in cakes. I think we had nearly as many as we did for the Macmillan Sale. Safe to say, they were very well appreciated!
Lunchtime was a strange experience! The children took their sponsored silence very seriously and it was eerie how quiet the lunch hall was. All the children managed to stay silent whilst inside, with some coming up with some quite inventive ways of communicating with each other! (The adults have all discussed maybe making this a termly event, it was rather peaceful.)
The Charity Committee then rounded of the day, leading our collective worship to tell everyone about why our actions and sponsorships are so important.
We will be able to let you know early next week how much we have raised when all the sponsorship money has been returned to school and counted. We had raised nearly £110 with just the first cake sale and dressing up donations.
Once again a very big thank you for supporting us on our Standing for Ukraine Day. We are very grateful for everyone’s generosity and kindness.
