Pablo Picasso
We are exploring the work of Picasso this half term and the children have really enjoyed learning about this fascinating artist this week. We learned that he was born in Spain but completed much of his work in France. He is known for his painting, ceramic and sculpture. Also he was responsible for developing the cubist style of painting that he is maybe most famously known for.
The children created a Painter on a Page to record their knowledge and reflections about Picasso. I love how even this work shows their individual creative style!
We then had a go at drawing some faces in Picasso's cubist style. They were really fun to draw and the children enjoyed being creative with their choices of facial features. I'm sure you will enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed drawing them!
The Firework Maker's Daughter
We have also enjoyed exploring our predictions for our new class novel. The children made some fantastic observations about how the girl seems to be following a path towards the volcano and maybe she is going to rescue something or someone from it. They also wondered if a firework had caused the volcano to start erupting! I am always so impressed by how many clues the children can spot from a front cover 😊 Philip Pullman is a wonderful author and I'm sure the children will really enjoy getting stuck into this new tale over the next few weeks! Listen out for them talking about a white elephant and Lila!
