Morning everyone! How are you today? Thank you for sending in more of your delicious recipes yesterday, I have loads of new ideas to try. I am going to learn how to put them together into a collection today, which I will then share with you.
I know many of you are missing Miss Vetch, (she is really missing all of you,) but she is starting to feel much better and will be back soon to support you with your home learning again. In the meanwhile, you can keep making me hungry with all your delicious recipes and home baking!
Have a lovely day trying out today's activities. I look forward to seeing how you get on. Remember if you need us just use the class email or the Purple Mash email.
Reading
Just two more weeks left to achieve this half terms reading target so I would like you to prioritize your reading this week. That means, if you can, do your 30 minutes reading and quizzing before doing anything else, to make sure it isn't forgotten. Remember we are also aiming for those quiz scores to be over 85% to show you are reading and understanding.
Well done to Chloe H, Eliza S, Katie W, Abbey B, Max D, Matilda J, Max J, Harriet S, and William for already smashing their targets. Extra congratulations to Lauren E who has hit her target now! Keep going everyone else - you still have until the end of next week.
Remember if you are beginning to run out of books then go to this page on the website as there is a huge list of suggestions for where to go to find books that are still on AR!
PE
Have a look at the link below. Have a go at building your own workout. Try out some different moves and activities today. keep moving as often as you can and get outside for plenty of Vitamin D when you can!

Spellings
Please write a sentence for each of the spellings that I sent to you on Monday plus two of the additional words which have the same spelling pattern. Make your sentences really imaginative and if possible food related. Then as a challenge try and use all the words in one sentence - that still makes sense!
Maths
Please begin today with your 5 sessions on TT. (Well done to Matilda, Max J, Florence and Eliza St for scoring the highest in their year groups yesterday!)
Year Four: Quadrilaterals
Okay, "quadriexperts" today you can use some of your learning from yesterday in your MyMaths activity that I have set you. I would also recommend having a go at the lesson on MyMaths as it has some great explanations too! The session is challenging but I think with your practice yesterday and the lesson you will be able to have a good go! Remember you can retry and use the lesson as much as you need to help you.
Year Three: Lines
If you didn't manage to watch this yesterday, please have a look today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZJrAwfHQJw
See what you can remember by quickly drawing a line that is horizontal, another that is vertical, a pair of parallel lines, and lines that are perpendicular!
Then choose
one of the two sheets below to complete: decide which one you feel most confident to try! Please send me a picture of your sheet or your answers so I can see how you have got on. (I will share the answers tomorrow.)

Catch Up
I would like you to write a postcard to Miss Vetch to tell her all about what you have been up to in the last couple of weeks! Maybe you could tell her about your VE celebrations, your home learning, new hobbies or skills, or something lovely that you and your family have done over the past couple of weeks. I have set this as a ToDo in Purple Mash, but as usual, if you would prefer to write in your workbook or type it on the computer that is fine too. I'm certain that hearing all your lovely news will cheer her up!
Learning Project: Food
The project this week aims to provide opportunities for you to learn more food. Learning may focus on where different foods originate from, what makes a healthy meal, opportunities to cook etc. As usual use this as an opportunity to research and work on ideas and issues that interest you. Use the ideas below as a starting point but follow your own thoughts and learning.
Let’s Wonder:
What is a balanced diet? Find out about the 5 food groups. Make slides or posters about what you find out about. What are - Carbohydrates, Protein, Dairy, Fruits and Vegetables, and Fats. Where does your food come from? Which foods come from the UK? What is fairtrade?
Let’s Create:
Make repeated pattern prints for decorative purposes using various natural materials, e.g potato printing.
Perhaps create some still life observational sketches of fruit. Look at the artwork of
Giuseppe Arcimboldo -maybe recreate some of his paintings with fruit.
Time to Talk:
As a family, design a healthy meal plan for the week. Discuss your favorite foods and why you all enjoy them? Talk about healthy and unhealthy foods and explain the importance of eating a balanced diet. Talk to older members of your family and ask them about food - have the types of food available changed? Do they eat differently now? What are their favorite foods?
Understanding Others and Appreciating Differences:
Lunch around the world. Look at lunch around the world and investigate how differently people eat in other parts of the world. Find out what a vegetarian is? Vegan? Kosher food? Halal food?
Reflect:
Reflect on food use and food wastage around the world. Find out about countries which experience famine - why does this happen? Reflect on how you can reduce food waste in your house? Learn about food banks in our area - why are these needed? Who supports food banks? Can you help at all?
Take care, work hard but get plenty of activity and sunshine if it is about today!
