Good morning class three, I thought I would start this mornings webpage with a riddle….
A monkey, a squirrel, and a bird are racing to the top of a coconut tree. Who will get the banana first, the monkey, the squirrel, or the bird? - if you think you know the answer, then send me an email through Purple Mash π.
I hope you had a good day yesterday. Well done to all those who had a go at yesterdays tasks. I have to give a big shout out to Eliza Sanders, Harriet, Henry and Tonweya for their amazing Easter research π. I was sent a brilliant poem by Katie, which I will try and put on the website later on.
These are your tasks for today. Please remember that if you don't get all the tasks done each day then that is absolutely fine. Some tasks will take longer than others and if you're really enjoying a task, you may choose to spend longer on that than others which I'm perfectly happy with so please don't worry π. For those of you who want it, I will put some project/ activity ideas up on our page at the beginning of each week of the holidays, but there is no pressure from me to do any of it. I am more than happy for you to have some fun time with your family, along with a good rest!!
Word Jumble
Here is today’s word jumble:
a b r t y i p o e u l c s q k
I was really impressed to hear that Hannah, had not only got a cracking score, but had also challenged her Mum, Dad and Auntie Janet to play. I wonder who got the top score….
Maths
Today, I have set up a challenge for you to do on Purple Mash. It is called Fractiononi’s Pizza. I want you to choose the level that you think best challenges you and have a go. Don’t worry about uploading it, purple mash will send me a notification when it is complete.
Yesterday’s answers:

Reading
I was really impressed, yesterday, with Max who came first in our class competition on SumDog, closely followed by Max D and Jake, so very well done to you three!! Today, I would like you to have a go at these online reading tasks. The practice is only short, so when it says you have reached your daily practice limit, you can come off the activity. It is just a quick fire reading activity.

Spellings
Choose 15 the year 3 / 4 common exception words that you have been practising this week and ask Mum’s or Dads to test you. Let’s see who can get 15 / 15!
Writing
Log on to your Purple Mash account and complete the ‘2do task’. Today’s task is to write a letter to somebody who has never experienced Easter, or who knows very little about what Easter is. Try to include as much information as you can, and remember to take special care with things like capital letters, punctuation and make sure to include interesting vocabulary. If Purple mash doesn’t work properly, or you would rather complete the task in your workbooks and email me a photo or attachment, that is fine π.
PE
It has been great to hear about all the exercises you have been doing with Joe, keep it up. I have also attached another link that has been sent by one of our PE coaches at Grewelthorpe, so why not have a go at that as well.

Learning Project Focus: Our Local Area
The project this week aims to provide opportunities for you to learn more about the area in which you live. Learning may focus on your local area, famous people, key landmarks and links to your city.
Let’s Wonder:
Think about your street. What type of houses are on your street? What type of house do you live in? What other buildings are close by? Find out about your local area, what different buildings does it have? How old are some of those buildings? How have they changed over time? Use a map to locate different places. Look on βGoogle Earthβ. Draw your own map of their local area.
Let’s Create:
Choose a building you most admire in your local area. Make a model of that building using materials of your choice. (Playdough, βjunk modelingβ, lego etc…..) Reflect on your creation: How well did you do? What would you do differently next time? What have you learned by making this?
Be Active:
Try and be as active as you can daily! Make sure you get outside and exercise every day if possible or try out online exercise classes like Joe Wickes! Get out into the garden, pull up some weeds or mow the lawn? (With parental guidance!) Does your garden need a tidy up? Maybe you could plant some seeds.
Time to Talk:
Were your family members all born in this local area? If not, how is their place of birth different to your own local area? If they were, how different is the local area since they were born? Talk about their memories of how it has changed.
Understanding Others and Appreciating Differences:
Research different places of worship that can be found in our local area. Can you find their nearest Church? Mosque? Synagogue? Temple? Gurdwara? What can you find out about them? Draw pictures and label them with any information they find out.
Reflectβ:
Think about what would improve the local area? What is our local area lacking? What spoils your local area? What could be done?
I hope you have enjoyed todays activities and I look forward to seeing / hearing all about them. I hope you are keeping well and looking after your Mums and Dads. Take care and keep safe!
Miss you all, sending lots of love and hopefully see you very soon π π
