Class Three - PE

28 Feb 2024

This half term we are starting two new units in PE.

On a Thursday with Mr Whitford we are doing parasport. This includes lots of different sports which have been adapted so they are accesible by all.

This week we we are doing Boccia. This is a sport where you throw, kick or use a ramp to propel a ball onto the court with the aim of getting closest to a 'jack' ball. You must remain seated.

Have a look at this video for more information.

On Fridays with Miss Rogers we are doing volleyball. We began this unit by talking about the rules of the game. We linked to our prior learning in PE, when we were doing dodgeball and benchball. We could see there were lots of skills which we could transfer to this new game. We played games where we explored the court and did mini drills to build up our speed moving around the court.

Later in the lesson, we practised throwing the ball and making sure we cleared the net. This then led us into practising our serving. Finally we finished the lesson with a rally in groups of 4.

We are really looking forward to developing our PE skills this half term.

Next week we are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday, I can't wait to see your costumes.

Have a lovely weekend.
