Class Three- First Week Back

12 Apr 2024

Well it has only been a 4 day week but we have certainly squeezed a lot in.

On Tuesday we had school photographs and did some Science work around our topic of materials. In the lesson we had to make a solution and then tested it so if it dissolved. We found that when something is dissolved it takes the longest amount of time when put in cold water. It happens much quicker in hot water.

On Wednesday we completed lots of maths, focusing on our arthimetic skills and using our knowledge of the 4 operations to solve lots of questions. The Year 5s also applied their knowledge of decimals and solved one step and multi step word problems.

On Thursday Mr Whitford led our PE lesson and we had our first handball lesson. Handball is a game which involves working as a team, to throw the ball to each other with the aim of scoring a goal. Even though it was our first lesson we showed our ability to make links to previous sports we had done and showed a good level of skill. We finished the lesson with a game, which got very competitive. In Friday's PE lesson with Miss Rogers we put the volleyball skills we learnt before the holidays to practise with lots of mini games. It was great to see how much progress had been made.

In RE this week we were thinking about the types of sacrifice we could make in our lives. This included things like money, time, toys and clothes up to blood and organs. We had a very mature conversation around this and the children reflected on the types of sacrifice they would be willing to offer in different situations.

During this week our Year 6 children have also completed their Spring Hodder papers, the Year 5s did theirs just before the holiday.

Next week we have an NSPCC Workshop on Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend!
