Happy half term!

24 Oct 2020

We have come to the end of our first half term of the new academic year, and I think it's fair to say that we all ready for a rest! smiley The children have adapted so well to the new normal in school, and as always, have taken it in their stride. They have worked hard, and have already made some super steps forward in their learning. We have put a lot of focus on our learning behaviours, and the impact of this is starting to be seen. Here are some of the things we have been doing...

We have been keeping track of all the books we have been reading as a class, and we love writing book recommendations and reviews for each other.

In maths this half term, we have covered number and place value, and then have moved on through addition, subtraction, multiplication and into division. We will pick back up here after half term.
Our class novel is 'The Roman Quests: Escape from Rome,' by Caroline Lawrence. For the last few weeks, we have used this as our text for guided reading. We have really enjoyed getting into the text, and following the quest of Juba, Fronto and Ursula.

For our history work, we have been learning about the Roman invasion of Britain in 43AD, and the impact of that on our lives today. In Geography, we have learnt about countries in North America, South America, Europe and Asia; we focused on the physical and the human features of the coutries. We also managed to increase our knowedge of different countries in the world, and their capital cities.

We like to share examples of good work in class on our 'wow work of the week' board.

To end the half term, we spent some time doing some sketching of items relating to the Romans. Here are some pictures of us at work:
