Friday 15th January

Friday 15th January
         Class 4

Happy Friday Class 4! I look forward to seeing you all later on our Teams calls. smiley
Sadly for us, today is Joel's last proper day with us as he and his family are moving away. I know I speak for everyone when I say that we are all going to really miss you Joel. We hope you stay in touch with us. Have a wonderful time in your new home and new school. laugh

enlightenedToday looks like...
English - Guided reading on 'The giant's necklace' & spellings.
Maths - TT rockstars & Dividing fractions. (Please send this piece of work to me today. You can do this via email at class4@gfschools.co.uk or upload it to Teams in the 'files' section.)
12.50pm Teams call for everyone to say bye to Joel

1pm Teams call for Year 6.
1.30pm Teams call for Year 5.
PM - A quiz & a craft activity. (I'd also love to see your finished craft activity if you fancy sending it to me.)

Don't forget that you need to do 30 minutes reading today and some physical exercise too. Look at the home learning tab for information about both of these. Remember, you can do these activities at any point during the day.

Remember to look at the daily Collective Worship. You can find it under the News & Events tab on the website, under School News.

Guided reading
We are going to carry on with the guided reading unit we started last Friday, which is about 'The Giant's necklace' by Michael Morpurgo. Last week, you were getting to know the text.

Your learning intention for today's lesson is: To read a text and make inferences.

Here is the link you need. Remember to pause your video whenever you need to.

Spellings
I have got the next week's worth of spellings to give you. I will be doing this week's spelling test with you over Teams this afternoon.
Incase you need them again:
This is Year 5s sheet, list 27.

-Shakespeare and More Spelling Wordlist 27-V316189876.docx-
This is Year 6s sheet, list 31.
-Shakespeare and More Spelling Wordlist 31-V316189901.docx-
Remember that if you are in blue group, you don't use a word list. There is a list of the spelling groups and who is in each group on the first slide on the spelling slides below.

This is the weekly practice sheet that you will need to record your practice, or you could just write them on a piece of paper/ in a book.

Here are the slides that we would usually go through in class, except I've converted them into PP so that you can view them. Read and complete the slides and towards the end you will see this week's spellings. As always, you should write down the 5 I have given you and then select 5 more that follow the same rule from your wordlist above. If you are in blue group, you just practise the 8 spellings I have given you. You should practise them through the week as you normally would, and I we will do a test next Friday over teams.
You have also got a spelling task like usual.
Here are the slides:

smileyHere are the spelling answers from today's test. If you missed the call, you could ask someone at home to test you on them anyway. It'd be great if you would send me your scores. Thanks. smiley

These are the answers for yesterday's maths activities:

  -Y6-Multiply-fractions-by-fractions-answers 14.01.21.pdf-

Today, we are going to move onto dividing fractions. You will be focusing on dividing fractions by integers (whole numbers) today. I would like you all to watch this video..

Here is your activity sheet. I would like as many of you as possible to give this a go (be brave) as I think you can do it. It is a year 6 sheet, but I definitely think you could give it a go Year 5s.

If you're really unsure, then give this one a go. It is based on what you've been doing for the last two days on multiplying fractions. You could re-watch a video from Wednesday or Thursday's maths if needed.

Please send me your maths work today.

Well done to those of you who completed your tt rockstar sessions yesterday - there were 20 of you who did. I have given out the dojos! You each have 5 more sessions to complete today. I will be checking as the day goes on to see how you've done. Here is the link:

smileyAfternoon

I have two activities for you this afternoon. The first one is a quiz! I have written a quiz on the learning you have done this week, this will give me a good idea of what you have remembered, and what you may need more time on. There are only 12 questions, for some you have to type your answer and lots of the others are multiple choice. Have a go - it automatically sends me your results so I know how you've done.

Click on the link and it'll take you to teams where the quiz is saved. You have until 5pm today to complete it.

The second activity is a bit of a fun! You will need your toilet rolls and egg boxes for this activity although I have also added an activity that doesn't need either, just incase you didn't have any.

Click on the powerpoint below and you will see 3 collage activities. I would like you to pick one of them, and have a go at following the instructions to make it. Try your best and have fun! If you fancy sending me a picture of your finished product, I'd love to see it.

Have a really lovely weekend. Take care and I'll see you on Monday.
