Class 4 - Thursday 9th July

06 Jul 2020

Good Morning Class 4

The first thing to do this morning is to wish Jasmine a very Happy Birthday! smiley We hope you have a really lovely day. laugh

We are all back at home today. I hope you've had a good week so far?

I have another chapter of 'The last wolf' for you today. smiley

Please remember to send me examples of your work on class4@gfschools.co.uk.

Here are your mindfulness activities for this morning. Remember, you can do them in any order, and you may not have time to do them all so choose your favourite to do.

Positive thinking diary

There is a section on this sheet for you to fill in each day this week. I would like you to reflect on the day you have had, and write down something positive that has happened.

Colouring task

We all love a colouring activity. smiley I have attached a mindfulness patterns exercise this morning. Have a quick look at the powerpoint at the top link first so that you understand the aim of your doodling. Then you can use the bottom link to do the doodling, or you could just use a blank piece of paper.

Reading is wonderful for Mindfulness. Therefore, I have left our 30 minute reading task on.

If you have run out of books to read, then visit the enrichment page on our website and read the 'what can I read next?' article.

Learning project:

The focus for this week's project is 'celebration'.

Learning may focus on different types of celebrations that take place and who may celebrate them. It could look at how people celebrate different events differently in other parts of the world.

This afternoon, you can either continue a project you started yesterday, or start a new one.smiley

Planning a Celebration- It’s time to plan a celebration event of your choice. This could be a birthday party, an end of term party or anything else you wish to plan. You have £150 to spend and 25 guests will be attending. What will you spend the money on? You should plan the celebration: think about the location of the event, how will you decorate the venue, what will your guests eat and drink and how you will entertain your guests. You should detail the timings of the event and any timings for preparation.

 ● Time to Design- Can you imagine your perfect celebration outfit? What would it look like? What would it be made from? How comfortable would it need to be? You should design a costume for a celebration of your choice. Think about the patterns you would like to incorporate on your design and the cultural traditions.

 ● Birthdays around the World- Birthdays are celebrated differently in different countries. Write an information report detailing how birthdays are celebrated in the following countries: China, England, Spain, Italy and Mexico. Which country would you like to celebrate your birthday in based on your findings? Why?

 ● What’s the Same and what is Different? - Select a holiday/festival of your choice and research how different countries around the world celebrate this event. You could compare whether it is celebrated at the same time, the outfits people wear, the food eaten, etc. Make a video, poster or report of the things you have discovered.

 ● British Celebrations- In Great Britain, Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day and Bonfire Night are just some of the celebrations that take place. Choose one celebration day and research how the celebration came to be. Using the information you have found, plot the events on a timeline and include dates, details and pictures/sketches. Now create a poster advertising the celebration day. This could be done on a computer programme of your choice or on paper.

Have a super day everyone.

Take care all.
