Class Three- Guided Reading

15 Nov 2023

This week we have been completing challenges outside of our routine lessons. For Children In Need we took on the 1000 Bearpees challenge. In Class Three we persevered and actually managed to do 2001 bearpees, so now we need to collect in all our sponsorship money. On Friday the total was already over £500!

Miss Rogers also entered us into a spelling competition and we came 3rd in our region. We hope this means we can move onto the next round.

A new half term means a new Guided Reading book. This half term we are reading Armistace Runner by Tom Palmer.

Before we even began reading the book we have been using the front cover and the blurb to make predictions about what we thought might happen. We thought about how it may be written for and tried to give reasons for our thoughts. Miss Rogers was really pleased with our work.

We have then read the first four chapters of the book and answered comprehension questions. The questions covered a range of content domains, from questions about the vocabulary to inference and retrieval questions. It really meant we had to look closely at the text.

Next week Year 6 are going to Crucial Crew on Tuesday, please return your consent form if you haven't done already.

We will let you know how we got on with our spelling competition when we know.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Rogers and Mr Scott
