The beginning of our theme...

18 Sep 2020

Hi everyone

We have had another great week back at school. smiley We have enjoyed spending more time getting to know each other, and getting used to the new rules are routines in place.

The children have worked really hard on a range of assessments over the last couple of weeks, which have provided us with a baseline and have helped to inform my future planning. Well done to them all for their hard work.

We have enjoyed the beginning of our theme work based around the question, 'what does it mean to belong?' which encompasses this term's history, geography, art and DT learning. We began with an investigative lesson where the children had to use clues from different pieces of a picture to work out what our history topic was. We then went back in time using footsteps of 100 years to the time of the Roman's successful invasion of Britian in 43AD.

We discovered that the people who lived in Britain in 43AD when the Romans invaded were the Celts, and that that was the end of the Iron Age. We decided that to fully understand the impact the Romans had on Britain, we would need to understand what life was like when they first invaded. The children spent some time researching the Celts and creating information posters about them. Here are a few of them...
