These are your tasks for today. Remember, you can do the tasks in any order, and you don't have to do everything if you don't have time.

I have set you an activity for today. Year 5s yours is about bearings, and Year 6s yours is about nets of 3d shapes.  Remember to go through the lesson before you do the questions. If you find it difficult, you can go back to the lesson and have another go at the questions. I will be checking how you're getting on as the day goes on.

Spelling task: 

Please can you choose 5 words at random from the appropriate spelling list below. Please choose words that you haven't used before, and that you can't already spell! I would like you to find out the meaning of your 5 words so that you fully understand them, and then I would like you to write a short tale or story that includes these 5 words. You need to use them in the correct context so that your tale makes sense.

Please underline the 5 spellings (or write them in a different colour) and you could draw me a picture that links to the tale/story if you would like to. You can handwrite this, or you can type it up.

Writing task:

I would like you to create a persuasive leaflet for a new after-school sports club. You can choose the type of sports club it is; be as imaginative as you like! 

Remember to include persuasive language as well as colour and pictures to catch the reader's attention. Your aim is to convince school to run the club and to get as many people as possible who want to attend your club. 

You can type this up or handwrite it, and it would be great if you could send it to me when you've done it, either through the class email or Purple Mash email. smiley


Being kind...

We know how important being kind is all the time, but at the moment it's more important that ever. Just keep that in mind, and if you get the opportunity to do something to make someone else feel good, then please do.smiley

Learning project:

The focus for this week's project is 'sport'. 

The projects this week aim to provide opportunities for you to learn more about sports and games. Learning may focus on the history of sport, sporting-heroes, physical challenges and performances. 

Choose one of these projects to do this afternoon. smiley
  ‚óŹ Sport Genius - ‚ÄčResearch about‚Äč ‚Äčsporting history‚Äč and see how many different‚Äč ‚Äčfacts‚Äč you can find out about sports from the past. Create your own sporting trivia quiz which you can test out on members of your household. Or you could place different sporting events from the last 100 years onto a timeline. 

 ‚óŹ Sporting Heroes - ‚ÄčSelect your favourite sporting star. Then you should draw a portrait of them in the style of the famous pop artist‚Äč ‚ÄčRoy Lichtenstein‚Äč using felt tip pens or paint - you may need to research him first! Please send me you creation so I can share them all. 

 ‚óŹ Name that Sport - ‚ÄčYou could create an‚Äč ‚Äčorienteering map‚Äč of your home/garden. At each location you will need to create a question relating to a sport e.g. Which sport has the most rules? The answers can then be recorded on an orienteering sheet. Can you create an answer that begins with the letter of the next location? You can test it out on a family member.

 ‚óŹ Beat It! - ‚ÄčBegin by measuring your resting heart rate by counting how many beats in a minute. Then carry out an exercise e.g. running, skipping, star jumps etc. for 3 minutes. Once you have completed this you should carry out a recovery activity e.g. walking or sitting and see how long it takes for your heart rate to go back to normal. Repeat this with different recovery exercises to see which is the most effective at getting your‚Äč ‚Äčheart rate‚Äč back to normal the quickest. Can you create a way of showing your results?

 ‚óŹ Anyone Can Be a Champion! - ‚ÄčThis activity is all about exploring the diversity of sport. You should research the history of the ‚ÄčParalympics‚Äč. Discuss why we have the Paralympics. You should create a poster which presents the importance of the Paralympics and the range of different sports there are.
