School Trip to Buddhist Centre

26 Jun 2024

We had a fabulous day on Tuesday when we visited the Buddest centre near Pocklington. It was a glorious day and we really enjoyed exploring the grounds of the house. We spent time listening to the sounds of nature and watching the birds and insects around the lake.

We also did some sketching in the shade of some beautiful oak trees. The children really focused on their pictures, choosing what they wanted to focus on in their sketch. Some choose a natural focus, such as a flower, tree or landscape whilst others enjoyed the challenge of sketching the house.

We also had a tour of the building and a talk from a Buddist Nun and Lay person. It was really interesting to hear them talk about their beliefs and how this influenced their lives.

Our guides also read us the Story of Buddha and the children volunteered for parts acting out the events of his life.

We finally also had opportunity to take part in some meditiation, which for some was a really calm way to end our day exploring the centre.
