Class Three- Instruction writing
06 Jun 2024
In our theme lessons we have been learning about ancient Maya. This has been a super topic, one which the children have engaged really well with. We are nearing the end of the unit and the children have already produced some fantastic work.
This week we would like to share our instructions we have written on how to play the game of Pok-A-Tok. This learning has allowed us to combine History, English and PE together in order to successfully explain to someone else what Pok-a-Tok is and how to play it.
The first thing we did was carry out some independent research into what the game is, its history and the rules of the game. We watched videos so we could see it being played, then we played it for ourselves.
This allowed us to understand the steps and the rules more clearly. We spent time thinking of the features our instructions would need and from this created a plan of how our work would look and what things we would include. Then came the time to write. We all worked independently and produced some super sets of instructions. The final step on our wiring journey was it edit our work. This is a tricky skill but one which we have worked really hard over the course of this year.
