Class Three- PE, Computing and lots of maths
10 May 2024
This week is our last week before our Year 6s sit the KS2 SATs. They have worked really hard and we hope they do really well next week. Because of this the mornings next week will look different for both year groups.
But back to this week, I don't think we could have fit in anymore maths. The children were asked which topics they wanted to work on and these were included in some of our work for this week. The children smashed their work with fractions with almost everyone getting every question correct. We recapped percentages, area, perimeter, Roman numerals, negative numbers and rounding.
Year 6 really enjoyed being given a past paper which someone had completed to mark. They were very very good at writing what the person had done wrong and how they needed to do it correctly.
In Computing we have been learning about the internet and the World Wide Web. This week we had to choose a figure who had made an impact on the Internet or technology and research them ready to write a biography about them. The people they were choosing from were Tim Bernard Lee, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.
In PE, we have moved onto the shotput. After warming up doing lots of runs and sprints we recapped the technique we learnt last week. The children practised doing this in pairs, checking their partner was stood correctly. We then practised our throws. After a few attempts we thought about how we could make the throw more powerful and where best to release the ball. The lesson finished with a competition we took it in turns to throw our ball and mark where it had landed. Congratulations Nicholas, Archie and Edward for being the top 3!
There is no Year 6 homework this week as we know the children will work even harder than usual in school and so at home we want them to just make sure they are rested and ready to show everyone how brilliant they are. There is Year 5 homework, even if they tried to tell me there shouldn’t be 🤣.
Have a great weekend!
Miss Rogers and Mrs Lewis.
