Writing the News

03 May 2024

Our latest writing journey has been to prepare and write a news article for a newspaper. We decided to travel back in time a little for this report and imagined we were reporting on the discovery of King Pakals stunning Jade death mask.

As all good reporters do, the children did their research, made notes and interviewed key witnesses before writing up their news articles for the front page of the "Fountains Chronicle." The reports they produced were brilliant! We are really proud of each and everyone of them and how much progress they are making! Everyone used the correct formal, journalistic style, providing their reader with just the right amount of information.

The children are really enjoying our history topic this term, learning about the Ancient Maya civilisation and this news story helped us to dig a little deeper into a very fascinating find from that era.  We will be sharing more about this learning soon, although I am sure you will have already heard about the human sacrifices and blood letting!

Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend, see you all again Tuesday.

Mrs Lewis and Miss Rogers.
