Class Three- Y6 Crucial Crew, Computing and Christmas
21 Nov 2023
It has been a funny week this week, we have been thin on the ground with illness at times. We hope everyone is feeling better now and hopefully we have got our illnesses out of the way early this half term.
On Tuesday the Y6s went to Crucial Crew, they took part in 5 workshops run by different organisations. The workshops included; fire safety, water safety, online safety, drugs awareness and a workshop talking about the dangers of smoking and vaping. The childrn were fantastically behaved, they asked lots of questions and were keen to answer any questions asked of them. Whilst the Year 6s were at Crucial Crew the Year 5s had a science afternoon with Mrs Micklefield.
On Wednesday we had our first rehersal for the Christmas Play, our superb acting and beautiful singing was there to see from the start. When it wasn't our scene which was practising we spent time in class planning our stalls for the Christmas Fair. The fair is on Wednesday 6th of December, we hope lots of people can come and have a go on our stalls. This week's homework is to learn our lines so we don't need our scripts for much longer.
At the end of the week we continued our work on databases in computing. This work began by looking at an exisiting database and using it to answer questions. We then used the database to create our own questions and give them to another pair of children in our class. The pair then answered our questions and we marked their answers. Once we had done this we then began creating a class database, we used Purple Mash, we created an avatar and used this to populate our class database. We then created a record based on our own information and added this to the database. Finally we wrote questions based on this database and gave them to one of our peers to answer.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Rogers and Mr Scott.
