Class Three- Reading
19 Oct 2023
This week in Class we have made some great progress with our reading targets and most are now on track to reach their target before we finish for October half term. We start each day doing 30 minutes independent reading, during this 30 minutes we are often heard read by the adults in our class.
As well as this reading time, we also have weekly Guided Reading sessions. This half term we have been reading the book Kensuke's Kingdom. At the end of last lesson we wrote predicitons about what we thought would happen in the rest of the book.
In today's lesson we were looking closely at the author's choice of vocabulary and the impact this had on the audience. The children answered different questions about Chapter 8. In order to answer these questions they needed to first locate the quote in the text, read it to get the context and then if needed use a dictionary to find the definition of the word.
Next week is the last week of half term, on Wednesday we are spending the day doing Food Technology, on Thursday some of our class are taking part in a football tournament, good luck! Please remeember we finish at 3pm on the Friday.
Have a great weekend!
