Class Three- Computing and PSHE
12 Oct 2023
In Computing this week we have been using some new resources from Project Evolve, we really enjoyed the lesson. We began by thinking about what identity means. Then we played a game to check we understood the vocabulary copy, modify and alter.
As a class we discussed when you would create an avatar and what parts of your identity this would share with others.
We created our own avatar, which was great fun and allowed us to choose lots of different details.

After this we thought about why someone may want to copy our avatar and decided it wasn't a good thing if someone copied it. We talked about what they might do once they had copied the avatar.
We finished the lesson by looking at how easy it would be modify and alter our avatars. The children made themselves look older, changed their facial features and their clothing. We discussed why someone might want to do this and talked about the importance of communicating safely online.

In PSHE in previous lessons we have been thinking about our needs and the needs of others. Today we thought about our rights and each of the children created their own learning charter.
We have also been doing some work around safeguarding. We discussed what safeguarding was and shared the child version of our school's safeguarding policy. We then colour coded a map of our school and its grounds to show where we feel the most safe and if there are any places we feel less safe.
Have a great weekend!
