Class Four - Fairy tales and Electricity
24 Feb 2023
We have had a fantastic first week back after half-term in Class 4.
In English we have started exploring fairy tales. On Monday the children analysed Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella. On Tuesday we looked at how to write instructions, working in groups to analyse a set of instructions and deciding what makes them effective. The children then wrote their own instructions about how to write fairy tales, this is an idea we will be building on over the course of the half-term.
In Maths we have been working on percentages. This has been linked to (and built on) our previous work with fractions and decimals.
We have also started our new Science Topic work. This half-term we are looking at electricity and considering the question “How can we use and control electricity?”. The children have demonstrated fantastic scientific knowledge, drawing and labelling electrical diagrams. They have also experimented with building increasingly complex electrical circuits.
Just a small reminder, next week we are visiting a Synagogue in Bradford and the National Science and Media Museum on Tuesday. Please ensure your child is in school uniform with a coat and appropriate black footwear. Boys are required to wear long trousers and need to be able to cover their head (if they could bring a baseball cap or a woolly hat please).
Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.
