Class 4 – Drawing and Debating
10 Feb 2023
We have had a fantastic week in Class 4.
This week we have held debates where the children have had the opportunity to take on a specific role and put forward arguments about whether as a world we should reduce our carbon footprint. Some of the roles included climate scientists and the UK Prime Minister. The children showed fantastic knowledge and skills during the debates. Their hard work culminated in writing balanced arguments where they had the opportunity to consider each side of the argument before reaching their own conclusion.
In Maths we have finished our work on decimals , we will be working on percentages next.
There has been a real focus on art this week. We have been looking at the artist David Hockney with a view to creating our own abstract landscapes. The children tried out different techniques for developing texture in their artwork, this included pointillism and cross-hatching. On Thursday we braved the cold and the children headed outside to sketch our beautiful Fountains landscape, they used these initial sketches to create beautiful, colourful abstract art pieces.
You have worked really hard this half-term Class 4. Have a lovely and well deserved break!
