World Book Day celebrations
03 Mar 2022
What a lovely first week back we have had, particularly because for the first time I can remember in a very long time, we have all been here all week! It's so great to have the whole class together.
As you know, we have had a really fun week in school celebrating World Book Day.
On Thursday, it was World Book Day and so we came to school dressed as one of our favourite book characters. We had a lovely day sharing books with the younger children in school, listening to stories, completing book related activities and spending time together as a school. I was so impressed with our class's outfits; a lot of effort had clearly gone into converting themselves into a book character.
On Friday, we spent the day producing ‘a play in a day’. The whole school worked together to perform a play on George’s Marvellous Medicine. We were responsible for the first section of the play.
The children worked in four groups to act out a segment of the story. They started by producing freeze frames of their section, then they moved on to adding sound, then they added action and finally they added props.
Later in the day, we joined up with the whole school to have a practice and then to perform George's Marvellous Medicine. The children did so well, and most importantly had lots of fun celebrating a really good book!
