The first week in Class 4.
09 Sep 2021
It has been lovely to be back in Class 4 this week. We are very lucky to have welcomed three new children to our class and our school this week, and we hope they have had a great first week with us. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the new Year 5s and being back with the Year 6s.
Here is the new Class 4:
I am really proud of the children for how well they have settled back into school; they have been great. We have spent the week getting to know each other; getting to know the routines in the classroom; and learning where everything is!
We have done some problem solving / team work activities which were a lot of fun, and quite amusing to watch!
We began our history work this week, and the children discovered that they would be learning about the Tudors, and specifically the impact the Tudor monarchs had on religion and society during that time.
To begin with, we looked at the chronology of British history and where the Tudors fit within that. The children worked in groups to try and order different historical periods on a timeline and to add appropriate dates to them. They did really well, and are clearly building up a solid understanding of what came when.
We then moved on to do some research about how the Tudors came to power and the Battle of Bosworth. We look forward to sharing more of our history work with you as the weeks go on.
If you would like to see our timetable, it is on the curriculum tab of the Year 5 & 6 website page along with our long term plan for Autumn term. On the 'welcome back' article one the Year 5 & 6 class news page there is an information sheet which will provide you with extra information; your child should have brought on of those home in their book bags earlier in the week too.
If you or your child has any questions or worries then please don't hesitate to speak to me first thing on a morning or at the end of the day, or you coud make an appointment to see me through Mrs Mallinson. Thank you. I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
