Our first week back
15 Apr 2021
This week has been a great first week back in Class 4.
We were very lucky to welcome Mrs Peel to our class. She will be working with us as our TA on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Wicks will continue to work with us on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
In English, we have started a poetry unit and so have been looking at the use of imagery. We discovered that imagery is a description which uses figurative language to appeal to all of the readers' senses so that they really feel like they are there/ experiencing something.
The children wrote a descriptive paragraph about the below image with the aim of including imagery.
Here are a couple of pieces of the children's writing:
We have also started our new RE unit this week, which is titled What would Jesus do? To begin with, we looked at a range of day to day situations that we could find ourselves in. Firstly, we considered what we would do in these situations and then secondly, we discussed what we felt was the right thing to do, and what Jesus would do. We will go on to look at how Christians constantly ask themselves this question as they live their lives in a way that follows Jesus' example.
We have also launched our new PSHE sheme this week, Jigsaw. The first unit we are completing is 'Being me in my World'. We began by agreeing a jigsaw charter so that we would all feel safe and supported in our learning environment. These are the rules in which we have all agreed to stick to during PSHE. We then went on to think about setting ourselves some goals for the rest of this school year, both academic and personal. We created walls with bricks in and filled those bricks with our goals.
