Wednesday 27th January
Class 4
Good Morning Class 4. I look forward to seeing you all later on our Teams calls. I will be explaining a litle more about your afternoon task.
Today looks like...
English - To plan an persuasive letter.
Maths - TT rockstars & Areas of rectangles.
1pm Teams call for Year 6.
1.30pm Teams call for Year 5.
Art - Design an Olympic mascot for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. (Please send this piece of work to me today. You can do this via email at class4@gfschools.co.uk or upload it to Teams in the 'files' section).
Don't forget that you need to do 30 minutes reading today and some physical exercise too. Look at the home learning tab for information about both of these. Remember, you can do these activities at any point during the day.
We dipped back down to only 19 of you completing TTrockstars yesterday. There were 7 out of 13 Year 6s and 12 out of 16 Year 5s, so the Year 5s win easily! Come on Year 6s!
Remember to look at the daily Collective Worship. You can find it under the News & Events tab on the website, under School News.
Your lessons for today are...

Now you have looked at the points needed in a persuasive letter and the language used, it's time to plan your persuasive writing.

Afternoon
Art
Today, we have a different art activity to complete - we will carry on with our Monet unit next week.
The Toyko Summer Olympics are due to begin in July 2021 (they were rearranged from 2020). We are part of the Harrogate School Sports Partnership's olympic countdown programme.
The first challenge we have been given is to design a new Olympic mascot. If you click on the link below, it will take you to a webpage that has a video about the history of the Olympic mascot, and it has a list of all the mascots that have been used so far. They may give you some inspiration.
https://www.olympic.org/mascots
Each school that is taking part in the Olympic countdown has been allocated a country to represent, and ours is China. Therefore, the mascot you design needs to be linked to China. You need to think about that in your design.
Please draw a picture of your new mascot, and colour it in using whatever resources you have at home. You need to think hard about your design, and your presentation.
I will be picking the best couple to submit as our school's entries into the School Sports Partnership competition. If you want yours to be considered, I need to have it by the end of the day on Thursday.
Have a great day, and I can't wait to see your mascot designs. Mrs Barker x
