Wednesday 20th January
Class 4
Happy Birthday Isabella! I hope you have a lovely lockdown birthday!
Also, Mia I'm really sorry, I realise that I didn't mention your birthday on here as it was on a Saturday. I apologise for that and I hope you had a lovely day.
Good Morning Class 4. I look forward to seeing you all later on our Teams calls.
Today looks like...
English - Lesson 1 of a persuasive writing unit.
Maths - TT rockstars & Finding fractions of an amount. (Please send this piece of work to me today. You can do this via email at class4@gfschools.co.uk or upload it to Teams in the 'files' section).
1pm Teams call for Year 6.
1.30pm Teams call for Year 5.
Science- Lesson 1 of Animals including humans.
Don't forget that you need to do 30 minutes reading today and some physical exercise too. Look at the home learning tab for information about both of these. Remember, you can do these activities at any point during the day.
Thank you to those of you who have sent me your biographies about Harriet Tubman. I have really enjoyed reading the ones I have received so far; you have clearly learnt a lot! If you haven't sent yours through to me as yet, it's not too late! I will be happy to receive them at any time.
Remember to look at the daily Collective Worship. You can find it under the News & Events tab on the website, under School News.
Your lessons for today are...
English
As you have now completed your biography writing, we are going to move on to a new unit of writing. This is a persuasive writing unit - I know how persuasive you can all be, so you should be good at this!
Your learning intention for today's lesson is: To understand the features of a persuasive letter.
Here is the link you need. Remember to pause the video whenever you need to.

Today's maths follows on from yesterday's and so is about finding fractions of an amount.
Here is the video for Year 6s to watch. Year 5, you are welcome to watch this too, but you might find it more useful to watch yesterday's video again as your activity is very similar to yesterday's.
Here are today's question sheets.
Year 6

You each have 5 more sessions to complete on TTrockstars today. 18 of you completed these yesterday - that's 18 dojos given out. I will be checking as the day goes on to see how you've done today. Here is the link:https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school
Afternoon
Science
We are starting a new science unit today, called 'Animals including humans'. This is another of those units that we do every year, and so we have half the LIs to do each time. Therefore, this unit will only take 2 or 3 lessons.
Today's LI is: I can describe the changes as humans develop to old age.
I have created a powerpoint which will take you through the lesson. As usual, you will need to click on the volume icon to hear my instructions. Unfortunately, the powerpoint was too large to upload onto the website so I've saved it onto Teams. If you look below, I have taken a screenshot of where it is. Go to Class 4 and select the files tab at the top, then go into class materials and it's the only document in there.
Here is today's activity. I have explained what to do in the powerpoint slides.

Have a great day, and I look forward to seeing you all this afternoon. Mrs Barker x
Here are the science answers. Obviously, don't look at them until after you've finished your activity.
