Friday 8th January
Class 4
Morning all, don't forget about our teams call today at 1pm. See you then!
I am going to do the call with the whole class today, but as of Monday I am going to split it into two calls, one for Year 5s and one for Year 6s. This is just because there are so many of you, and so it is very difficult to do anything productive with everyone on the call at the same time. If we need to break down into even small groups in the future, then we can.
Thank you to those of you who sent me your RE work yesterday. It would be great if I could have a few more pieces of work sent to me today - I love hearing from you. The piece of work I'd like to see from today is your spelling task and/or your art work from this afternoon. You can either upload it to Teams in the 'files' section or you could take a photo of it and email it to me at class4@gfschools.co.uk
Don't forget that you need to do 30 minutes reading today and some physical exercise too. Look at the home learning tab for information about both of these.
Your lessons for today are...
English
Guided reading
We are going to do a guided reading lesson today. This is the first of 5 lessons on 'The Giant's necklace' by Michael Morpurgo.
The learning intention for this lesson is: To engage with the text.
Click on the below link to access the lesson. You can pause the video at any time.

Spellings
If we were in class, we would all be getting new word lists today as it's the start of a new half term. So I am going to give them to you anyway, just virtually!
This is Year 5s sheet, list 27.
-Shakespeare and More Spelling Wordlist 27-V316189876.docx-
This is Year 6s sheet, list 31.
-Shakespeare and More Spelling Wordlist 31-V316189901.docx-
Remember that if you are in blue group, you don't use a word list. There is a list of the spelling groups and who is in each group on the first slide on the spelling slides below.
This is the weekly practice sheet that you will need to record your practice, or you could just write them on a piece of paper/ in a book.

Here are the slides that we would usually go through in class, except I've converted them into PP so that you can view them. Read and complete the slides and towards the end you will see this week's spellings. As always, you should write down the 5 I have given you and then select 5 more that follow the same rule from your wordlist above. If you are in blue group, you just practise the 8 spellings I have given you. You should practise them through the week as you normally would, and I we will do a test next Friday over teams.
You have also got a spelling task like usual, and I'd like you to do that today. Please can you send it to me when you have finished it. Thank you. Here are the slides:

Afternoon
Art
We are going to start our new Art unit this afternoon which is based on Claude Monet.
We will complete this unit over a number of lessons.
I have uploaded a powerpoint below which will take you through the lesson. The task is to do a painting in the style of Monet. I planned it originally to be done using acrylic paint, but now we're doing home learning, I appreciate that you probably won't have any acrylic paint! Therefore, you can do it using anything you have, whether that is paint, watercolours, crayons, colouring pencils, whatever you have at home. I would love to see your finished art work. Please send it to me at class4@gfschools.co.uk or upload it onto Teams.

I hope you have a great day, and a lovely weekend.
