Our autobiographies
01 Oct 2020
As promised, we have completed our autobiographies this week.
We began by looking at autobiographies and biographies written about others, such as Roald Dahl and Jacqueline Wilson. This gave us the feel for this type of non-fiction text, and allowed us to start to identify the features of them, and discuss what made them interesting to read.
We then went on to look at the type of information included, and started to think about what we could include in our own autobiographies. Some of the children found this understandably hard, but they all got there after some thinking and some questions at home.
We decided as a class on a set of success criteria that we should follow whilst writing, and considered the purpose and the audience for our writing.
Then it was time to plan and write our autobiographies. Once we had finished, we used our purple pens to edit and improve our writing, and then assessed our work against the success criteria.
The children did a great job, and here are a few examples for you to have a read of.
