Home Work Support in Class 3

Accelerated Reader

Your child will have their current ZPD recorded in their reading record and will be choosing books within this range as advised by their reading mentors in class. More information about our reading scheme can be found in this booklet:

  -Accelerated Reader Parent Leaflet.pdf-

Details of access to the Accelerated Reader portal can be found in the link below. (Only necessary during times of home learning.)

Spelling Lists

Your child will bring home their weekly spelling list on a Tuesday and will have until the following Tuesday to practise and complete the spelling tasks in their book. On a Tuesday pupils must bring their red book into school so we can mark their hard work and provide them with their next list. We will also have a test on Tuesday to check understanding and recall of the spelling pattern.

Homework Activities

Our homework focus is on Times tables. Your child should have brought home their current multiples cards and a guidance document is in the front of their red books. (But if this is missing please see the document here.)

Alongside playing with the multiples cards, children are asked to also complete 10 garage sessions on TT Rock Stars. They have brought home their login for this and the web site can be found using this link:

Home Learning activities for pupils self isolating due to
Covid restrictions and illness

For shorter absences from school, please try and work through these activities each day at home to keep your brain active.
  • Read your AR reading book for at least 30 minutes. (Complete a quiz if you need to using the information above.)
  • Complete  at least 30 minutes of play on TT Rock stars.
  • Use your multiples cards to practice your current times tables.
  • Choose 4 or 5 spellings from the common exception spelling list above and use our spelling games to practice these. Get an adult to test you on these at the end of the day.
  • Handwriting practice. Use this video to help you spend time practising your letter formation. Try and write each letter family in turn to help you remember. Or if you are more secure write out the alphabet then choose a poem of your choice to practise.
  • Complete a piece of creative work - this could be an artwork, a model, a piece of music, a poem or story based on our current theme.

If the school absence is going to be longer then please use the resources below to supplement your learning through a wider variety of activities. We would love to see the work completed at home when you safely return back to school. The projects below are suggested for completion over a week - however they are likely to take longer if all the additional tasks and resources are explored.

Project One : Music

Project Two: Famous People
