Home learning lessons for this week

If you are at home this week, I hope you're feeling ok and we look forward to having you back in school as soon as possible.

Try to complete an English activity and a maths activity each day as well as doing half an hours reading each day. You could do more reading than that if you like!

If you can manage one of the afternoon activities as well then that's great, but if you're not feeling well or you don't have the resources or time to do it, then please don't worry.

Geography

1. Have a think about all we have learnt about natural disasters (particularly earthquakes and volcanoes) over the last few weeks. What is a natural disaster? Where do earthquakes take place and volcanoes exist? Why do you find them here? What causes a volcano to erupt or an earthquake to happen? What is the immediate impact on the people and palce of a natural disaster? What is the long term impact? Is there anything you can do to protect yourself?

I would like you to write and present your own news report about an earthquake or a volcanic eruption. You could use the underwater volcano and tsunami as the stimulus. You could watch some news reports to give you ideas of the type of information to include. You then need to think about how to present the information in a news report style. You could video yourself presenting your report.

2. See how many countries of the world you can label on the blank world map. Label any other geographical features that you know.
