Class 3 - Y5 & Y6 Home Learning

Autumn term 2019

Homework in Class 4

Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be due in by the following Friday. The children will usually receive one piece of maths and one piece of English homework a week. The English homework will often be based on spelling; the maths homework will follow on from the work we have done in class that week.

I may at times assign a different piece of weekly homework, which may be based on current history, geography, science or RE work. This may be as well as or instead of their usual homework.

Homework projects may be assigned during the year which will be to complete over a number of weeks. If I decide to set one, I will let you know more details about this at the time.

Our other big focus is reading. The children will have the opportunity to read for 30 minutes every day in class and ideally we would like this to be followed up with some reading at home. We have our new reading scheme called Accelerated Reader which we hope will engage, challenge and progress the children's reading even further.

As with anything, if there is anything you or your child don't understand about the homework, please don't hesitate to come and speak to me about it.
