DT week in class one

29 Mar 2023

Our main focus this week has been our DT, however, I also wanted to share with you the children's work in PE. On a Monday, the children have PE with Mr Whitford who has been teaching dance. The children have spent several weeks listening to a piece of music about dinosaurs and building up their skills to create a dance. They have learnt about finding the beat, formation, dynamics and much more in the lead up to this week's performances. The children came to watch each other perform. They may well be able to show you their dance at home, it was brilliant. Well done, class one!

In DT, our topic was Food. The children were invited to create a healthy meal deal. We began by finding our purpose last week before researching meal deals available. We used the computers to do this and identified what a good meal deal should include. We then practiced some of the skills needed to create a sandwich and chopping fruit and vegetables. After that, we designed and made our own. The children did a fantastic job or spreading the butter, layering their sandwich and chopping the food. Finally, we evaluated our products, considering what we found in our research of what a good meal deal should have. The children have absolutely loved DT, we can't wait for the next unit!

We have also been busy with some Easter crafts. In the home corner, we prepared for an Easter tea party; In the creative area we have been making masks and other Easter crafts. In the writing area, we have made cards. The children also made some Easter nests using cornflakes and a little bit of chocolate!
