World Book Day 2024!
08 Mar 2024
Yesterday was one of our favourite days in school - it was World Book Day! We had a great day of dressing up, decorating t-shirts and doing all sorts of book related activities.
As always, we were so impressed with the outfits the children came to school in. There were a huge array of book characters on show! We had Alice in Wonderland, Mr Willy Wonka, The Gruffalo, The BFG and many many more. Even the staff got involved by all dressing up as characters from Roald Dahl books. Mrs Jarman made a great Oomp Loompa!
Here are all our lovely children in their outfits.
One of our favourite activities of the day involved some felt tip pens and a white t-shirt.
All the children were each given a white t-shirt, and were given the opportunity to decorate it with a drawing of a book cover they really like, or one of their favourite characters from a book. Some of the children wrote a blurb on the back of their t shirts too. The children really enjoyed this activity and we were really impressed with the finished products.
We also enjoyed a session of shared reading, where all the children spent time in twos or small groups sharing stories. The older children always love sharing stories with the younger ones, and they love it too. It's a lovely, calm time where the children can be together to read a story.
Some of the other activities the children took part in included: a World Book Day collective worship, a footy and book quiz run by the National Literacy Trust and a computing activity.
A great day was had by all, and we are already looking forward to next year!
