Class 2 - School Trip
21 Feb 2024
Dear parents,
As part of our English writing unit of work we are looking at the book ‘The Street Beneath My Feet’ which also follows on from our work in geography last half term. In order to enhance our writing and deepen our knowledge of rocks and changes in the land over time, we are going to visit Stump Cross Caverns to experience first hand what it is like beneath our feet.
The trip will take place on
Thursday 29th February. We will leave school at 9:30am and return at 1.30pm. The children will be transported by Atkinson’s Coaches. We are asking for a contribution of
£12 per child to cover the cost of the visit and payment/ consent can me made on ParentPay.
Once at the cave, the children will have a guided tour of the cave which will include information about the formation of the caves and an understanding of geographical features and the history of the land in our local area. There will also be a fossil experience which will enable the children to examine the on site collection of fossils.
Children should come in school uniform however they may wear jogging bottoms as the temperature in the cave will be 7 degrees. They will need to wear wellington boots or walking boots as the cave can be slippery and the floor is uneven. Please ensure that your child has a coat.
Please can we also ask that children bring a packed lunch with them. If you would like us to order your child a packed lunch from the school kitchen, please contact the office asap.
Thank you for your support.
