Notice of Street Party in Ripon
30 Mar 2023
Kirkgate, the doorway to the historic Cathedral quarter of Ripon, is set to buzz on Easter Monday, 10
th April.
Kirkgate will be closed for traffic but open to party from 10 am – 4pm
There will be a festival of live music, al fresco dining, stalls, dance and local business!
The hugely popular band, Hyde Family Jam, will play live and get the street bopping!
Prelude to pedestrianisation
This is an opportunity for businesses in Kirkgate to trial the benefits of pedestrianisation. This is a chance to draw visitors to Ripon to enjoy café culture, out door dining and the gorgeous artisan shops that line the ancient street that links the Cathedral with the market square.
Totally Locally
Local businesses are totally excited about the Totally Locally initiative launched here by Ripon BID. This encourages us all to buy local to benefit the local economy.
Totally Locally have calculated that if every adult in the population were to spend just £5 per week in local shops and businesses, that would contribute £13.5 billion per year to the local UK economy.
If every adult in Ripon spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops that would result in an extra £3.1 million per year going into our local Ripon economy.
Kirkgate is the heart of independent business. The street party on Easter Monday is a celebration of the ‘Buy Local’ movement. Any local businesses who want to be involved are invited to get in touch with Manchega Tapas Bar, the hub of community life in Ripon.
