15 Mar 2023
At Ripon Cathedral we are excited to play our part in helping the region celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort on Saturday 6th May.
At the Cathedral there is a full programme of events over the weekend to which you, your staff, pupils and their families are very welcome.
I am inviting children of the primary schools of the region to write a prayer for the King.
All the prayers that are submitted will be on view in the Cathedral for visitors to read.
From these, the Lord- Lieutenant of North Yorkshire - the King’s senior representative, Mrs Johanna Ropner - the Canons of the Cathedral and I will choose some prayers to be included in a special exhibition within the Cathedral from Saturday 29th April for two weeks.
A small number will also be included in the prayers at the special service for the region to be held on Sunday 7th May at 3.30pm in the Cathedral.
The children whose prayers are included in the service will be given, along with members of their families, special seats in the main body of the Cathedral for the service.

- Prayers may be decorated and should be on A4 paper (white or coloured).
