Class 3 and 4 will be attending an Upland Education Day held at Dallowgill Estate on Tuesday 5th July.
The event is being hosted by the Nidderdale Moorland Group on behalf of Countryside Learning.
The aim of the day is to educate children about the countryside on our doorstep, and give them an increased understanding of wildlife and human life on the moors.
The children will take part in a variety of workshops during the day. They are focused on: mountain rescue/ emergency services; Nidderdale AONB; moorland birds and habitats; Yorkshire water; farming; and wildlife and controlled burning.
The children can wear their own clothes, but they must cover their legs by wearing trousers or leggings, and they must have closed toe shoes on.
Please can all children bring a school jumper or cardigan with them on the day too as it helps with quick identification. There is limited shelter on the moor and so if it is a wet day, the children will need waterproofs and equally if it's sunny, they will need to be wearing sun cream and have a sunhat and plenty of water with them.
We will be leaving school around 9.15am and will be back before the end of the school day. The children will need to bring a packed lunch with them and a drink. If you would like a packed lunch ordered from the school kitchen, please let the office know ASAP.
This is a free event, however we are asking for a £3.40 per child contribution to the bus to get us to and from the event, please can this be paid and consented for on ParentPay by Sunday.
Many thanks for your continued support.
