Key Stage Two Trip to a Muslim place of worship
22 Jun 2022
***Just a reminder that this will need to be paid/ consented to on ParentPay by the end of the day on Monday please***
We are planning to take the children on a school trip to The Markazi Jamia Mosque is in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Mr Barker, Mrs Barker’s husband has close links with this Mosque in his role as Keighley Neighbourhood Police Inspector and has enabled us to team up with Cllr Mohsin Hussain who is welcoming us into this beautiful mosque.
We will be going to the mosque next week, on Tuesday 28th June. The visit will take place in school hours departing by coach at 9:15am and returning by 3pm. Cllr Mohsin has personally arranged for us to take a tour around the mosque and guide us through all its different features. We will talk about the practices for Muslim followers in this special place of worship. This visit is the final part of our year of Islam, and it will be wonderful for the children to be able to apply all their learning.
The children will need to bring a packed lunch with them as we will be eating lunch at a community hall near to the Mosque which Cllr Mohsin has kindly arranged for us. ( Please contact the office if you would like to order a packed lunch from school for this day.) Please also send children with an additional drink and snack for during the afternoon.
On the way home, to break up the journey, we will stop off at Bolton Abbey before returning to school.
As ever, it is the transportation that costs a lot for these trips, so we will need to ask for a donation of £6.00 towards the cost of the coach hire for the day. Please make the payment and consent on ParentPay before next Tuesday.
Children can wear non-uniform for this visit with their school jumper over the top. (This allows for quick identification!)
As we will be spending some time on grass and paths during the afternoon, trainers would be more suitable than slip on shoes or sandals (no wellies though please). Please also send a waterproof jacket or sun cream/ sun hat depending on the weather.
We thank you for your ongoing support. It is wonderful to be able to take the children out and about again to experience their learning in the real world!
If you have any further questions about this visit, please get in touch with the office or Key Stage Two staff. We look forward to sharing our visit on our website, so please look next week at the class pages to see the visit photographs.
