Pupil Voice Week - Reminder
07 Feb 2022
Good morning,
Just a reminder that payment is due on Parentpay for the Pupil Voice Week this week.
As you will appreciate, these activities do cost us, and so we would like to ask for a contribution from parents to go towards our Pupil Voice week. £10 for one child, £16 for two children and for those of you with 3 children in school, £20.
We really appreciate your support.
Thank you
Pupil Voice Week
Week beginning Monday 14th February
Over the course of this academic year, we have been working on a number of pupil voice activities in school.
We began by creating a range of committees in school. These committees allow the children to have a say in the way our school is run, and importantly encourage them to take an active role in school and in our wider community. The committees include: Charity Committee, School Council, Collective Worship Committee, Reading Mentors and School Sports Crew. The children volunteered for the committee they were most interested in and then they were selected.
Alongside this, we split all the children and adults in school into four groups: red, blue, yellow and green. The children and adults worked together to create a team name and a logo. They also looked at a range of bible quotes and chose one which underpinned their belief as a team and they created a motto to link in with their bible quote.
The children did such a brilliant job, and it was so wonderful to see them all working together so well, with the older children supporting the younger ones.
We have had their designs printed onto t-shirts, and we have one for each child and each adult in school. Each team has their own banner too!
The children have seen these for the first time today, and next week we will be having a week of fun activities in school which will allow the children to work together in their teams. They will be wearing their t-shirts too!
Here are the logos on our t shirts followed by the teams' mottos which are on the back of the t shirts:
This is what we will be doing next week...
Monday
All children will be taking part in a Lego workshop run by a company called BricksMcgee, and also a PE games workshop run by Mr Whitford.
Tuesday
This will be our busiest day! The children will spend the day in their colour teams and in their t-shirts. There will be 4 workshops that the groups will rotate around. These are:
-Circus skills
-Problem solving / team building
-Food technology
-Art and Crafts
Wednesday
All children will take part in an environmental workshop by Green up your act. The younger children will take part in an eco-fish activity and the older children an up-cycled notebook activity.
Thursday
We would like to invite parents into drop-in sessions that we will run during the day. This will give us the opportunity to share with you some of the exciting activities we have done through the week; our new t-shirts; and some of the learning we have completed this half term. Due to Covid we need to spread them out and so this is when they will be:
Class 1: 9am - 9.30am
Class 2: 3pm - 3.30pm
Class 3: 9am - 9.30am
Class 4: 3pm - 3.30pm
During Thursday, we will also be doing some shared reading in school and also have some time for our different committees to meet and plan their next projects.
We are very proud of our children, and hope that they will all have a wonderful week next week celebrating our Fountains community and all they have achieved so far this year.
