Hand sanitisers (DO NOT SEND INTO SCHOOL)
11 Mar 2020
We have become aware that some children are bringing hand sanitiser into school. We have been advised by the North Yorkshire Health & Safety Team of the following:
It is appreciated that the use of alcohol gel is being recommended by PHE, NHS etc, however the first point of call and the most important advised by ALL agencies is the washing of hands often - with soap and water.
This is extremely important as we have a child in school who is allergic to hand sanitiser and this includes if anybody uses it themselves and touches this particular child.
In school we are therefore following the Health & Safety Team's advice to only use soap and water. All toilets and classrooms have soap and we have ordered extra to ensure that we have enough throughout the school.
Please do NOT send your child into school with hand sanitiser as they will not be permitted to use this.
We will of course be reviewing this advice in conjunction with the daily advice we are receiving from the Department for Education and Public Health England in light of the coronovirus epidemic.
